Kelvin's version began in Kuala Lumpur, raised by a single mother since he was nine, and constantly defied the family's wishes by wanting to traverse the world and be an artist.
After some drama, Kelvin jetted off to California all by himself after high school and eventually graduated in advertising and design from the Art Center College of Design.
Against the odds of the dot-com crash, Kelvin landed his first job as Art Director under two Chiat/Day alums at indie agency G&M Plumbing thanks to a decent portfolio and a convincing win in an impromptu video game challenge from his would-be bosses. For the next decade, he worked his way up to becoming a creative director in the USA and China, helming Saatchi & Saatchi during the booming market leading up to the Beijing Olympics.
After 2008, wanting a new creative challenge, Kelvin left the cushy agency world to start his boutique production company, The Bag Ladies. On top of providing global brands and agencies with world-class production solutions, he consults on cultural accuracies and local insights into the complex markets of China and Hong Kong.
And then came the conflict in Kelvin's story arc. Facing mental health issues, he took several years of sabbatical from commercial work and moved to Bangkok. Part of the healing journey came from using his creative skillsets to make social impact films advocating for causes like farmer inequalities, food insecurities, and food waste.
Today, Kelvin is back as an independent creator and producer with a more profound love for the beauty in people and places. Harnessing his strengths of five languages and global production access with a focus on Asia-Pacific, Kelvin can take you on the journey to new marvels, inspirations, and unforgettable stories.
